Mental health in Perimenopause & Menopause
Prior to focusing on mental health, I practiced as a Nurse-Midwife in clinic and hospital settings. I provided gynecological, contraceptive and peri/menopausal care including hormone therapy.
I also had the honor of caring for countless families through their preconception, pregnancy, birth, and postpartum journeys.
Given my background, I have unique experience and understanding of the intersection of hormonal transitions and mental health concerns.

Perinatal Mental Health
Emotional challenges often surface or intensify due to fertility struggles, miscarriage, pregnancy, birth complications, NICU stays, or postpartum.
This profoundly tender time is one of life's most meaningful transitions. I am committed to supporting you through it.
You may have been referred by your care provider for new or worsening symptoms. Or you may have a stable or past mental health condition and seek specialized care as you navigate preconception, pregnancy, postpartum, or breastfeeding.
At Firn you have a safe, trusted space for care when you need it most.

Partners too

Mental health concerns also occur more often in partners during pregnancy and postpartum.

It's not always "just fatigue."
I'm also here to care for you.

Healthcare workers
Working in health care today comes with tremendous challenges.

I have a special interest in caring for healthcare workers. At Firn you will find judgement free care in full support of your needs with a firm commitment to confidentiality.

Assessment
Mental health care starts with understanding.
At firn, diagnostic assessments are not just a means to a label but a way to listen deeply, identify patterns, and make sense of what you’re experiencing. My approach combines strong rapport, clinical accuracy and genuine support.

Medication
Medication management at firn is about informed choice.
Whether you’re starting, stopping, or adjusting treatment—or just curious about your options—I will guide you through the process with an in depth review of benefits, alternatives, and risks in treatment. Your perspective matters, and your comfort drives every decision.

Integrative Medicine
Integrative care is a patient centered approach that combines conventional mental health treatments with evidence-based complementary and alternative therapies.

Instead of solely focusing on symptoms and medication management, an integrative approach takes a "whole person" perspective considering the interplay of biological, psychological, social, spiritual and environmental influence on one's well-being.

Integrative mental health care includes things like diagnostic testing (labs and genetic testing), modifications to nutrition, sleep, movement, and lifestyle, mind-body medicine, and science backed supplements or nutraceuticals.

Counseling
I offer limited duration counseling focused on finding solutions in the here and now. This occurs over a set number of sessions sometimes with later "tune ups."
This counseling approach is a good fit for those struggling with major life transitions such as job or relationship changes, relocation, pregnancy, postpartum, or parenting transitions.
This form of counseling can be very beneficial for concrete behavioral change and intentionally shifting perspectives but it does not substitute or take the place of "perpetual" therapy which delves far more deeply and may last many years.
Depending upon your needs counseling is also often woven into medication visits.
